Registered Report: Does Internalization of Self-Presentation Require Self-Presentation? An Examination of Alternative Explanation by Self-Deception

چکیده

We examined whether people’s trait increases when asked to impress others with that trait. Participants (N=422) reported their extraversion/introversion and social desirability of extraversion introversion. After 7 10 days, we them write a self-introduction gave either an extraverted or introverted impression, depending on condition. Their was measured before the self-introduction. Results indicated (1) only rated desirable, (2) be presented increased in both conditions, (3) there greater effect extraversion, suggesting internalization self-presentation occurred even without self-presentation, especially for socially desirable traits.
